Thomas Deakin

Thomas Deakin is a promising young hooker who joined the Huddersfield Giants ahead of the 2024 Super League season on a two-year deal from the Sydney Roosters. Born in Oldham, England, Deakin moved to Australia at a young age and developed through the Roosters’ junior system. He made his senior debut in the NSW Cup with the North Sydney Bears in 2021 and accumulated 32 appearances across the Bears and Roosters’ reserve-grade teams, including 20 games in the 2023 season.

In 2024, Deakin was assigned the number 9 jersey for Huddersfield and was identified as a replacement for retiring hooker Nathan Peats. He also joined Hunslet RLFC on dual-registration in early 2025 to gain additional playing experience. Known for his quick distribution from dummy-half and solid defensive work, Deakin aims to establish himself as a regular in the Giants’ first team.
