Thomas began his journey with the Newcastle Knights, starting in their Harold Matthews Cup team in 2018. He then progressed to the S. G. Ball Cup side, where he showcased his skills from 2019 to 2021. In 2022, Cant further advanced to the Jersey Flegg Cup team, where he took on the role of captain.

In 2023, Thomas participated in both of Newcastle’s NRL trial matches during the pre-season. His hard work and dedication paid off when he made his much-awaited debut in the first grade for the Newcastle Knights in round 3 of the 2023 NRL season, facing off against the Dolphins.
