Player Bio
Ryan Hoffman is a highly respected former professional rugby league player whose career spanned more than 15 seasons at the elite level across the NRL and Super League.
Born in Canberra, Ryan attended the renowned rugby league nursery St Gregory’s College in Campbelltown, NSW, before making his NRL debut with the Melbourne Storm in 2003. Over the course of his career, he played for the Melbourne Storm, New Zealand Warriors and Wigan Warriors, earning a reputation as one of the most durable, professional and respected second‑row forwards of his era.
Ryan was a key member of Melbourne’s 2007 Grand Final‑winning team and scored the opening try in the 2009 NRL Grand Final victory. While both premierships were later stripped due to salary‑cap breaches, those performances remain significant moments in his playing career.
In 2011, Hoffman enjoyed a successful season with Wigan Warriors in the Super League, helping the club win the Challenge Cup at Wembley, further enhancing his standing as an elite international forward.
At representative level, Ryan earned 14 State of Origin appearances for New South Wales and six Test caps for Australia, including being part of the 2014 Origin series‑winning Blues side, where he was awarded the Brad Fittler Medal as NSW’s Player of the Series.
Ryan retired from professional rugby league at the conclusion of the 2018 NRL season, finishing his career back at Melbourne where it began, with more than 300 NRL games to his name.
