Player Bio
Ryan Girdler enjoyed an outstanding National Rugby League career, debuting for the Illawarra Steelers in 1991, where he became the club’s top point scorer the following season. In 1993, Girdler joined the Penrith Panthers, remaining with the club for the rest of his playing career and becoming one of its greatest ever players. He was a key member of Penrith’s 2003 Premiership‑winning side, set multiple goal‑kicking records, and represented Australia, making his Kangaroos debut in 1999.
Following his retirement in 2004, Girdler transitioned into media, spending more than a decade as a respected radio and television broadcaster, including a long tenure with Triple M NRL. In recent years, he has shifted his focus toward men’s mental health and personal development, now working as a men’s mentor and certified breathwork facilitator through his organisation Reconnected Men. Girdler regularly hosts and facilitates men’s retreats, breathwork sessions and mentoring programs, while still contributing to rugby league through podcasts and public speaking engagements.
