Player Bio

Jake Wingfield is an English professional rugby league footballer who plays as a loose forward or second-row for St Helens R.F.C. in the Betfred Super League.

A product of the St Helens youth system, Wingfield joined the club from Blackbrook ARLFC and progressed through the Saints’ Scholarship and Academy programmes, representing Lancashire at academy level before stepping up to the senior game. He made his Super League debut for St Helens in October 2020 against Salford Red Devils, during a congested fixture period caused by the COVID‑19 pandemic.

Wingfield established himself as a first‑team squad member in subsequent seasons, enjoying a breakthrough year in 2022 when he made 20 appearances, including playing in St Helens’ Super League Grand Final victory over Leeds Rhinos at Old Trafford.

In February 2023, he featured in St Helens’ World Club Challenge victory over Penrith Panthers in Australia and later scored his first senior try in the Challenge Cup against Halifax Panthers. In October 2025, St Helens confirmed that Wingfield had signed a contract extension taking him into the 2026 season, with further years conditional on appearances, underlining the club’s long‑term confidence in him as a forward option.
