Player Bio
Jai Field is an Australian rugby league player renowned for his electrifying speed, footwork and versatility, currently starring as fullback for the Wigan Warriors in the Super League. After beginning his professional career in the NRL with Parramatta Eels and later St George Illawarra, Field made the move to England ahead of the 2021 season, a decision that would prove career‑defining.
His start at Wigan was hampered by misfortune, suffering a hamstring injury on debut that side-lined him for most of 2021. However, Field’s return in 2022 was nothing short of spectacular. He quickly established himself as one of the competition’s most dangerous attacking threats, earning Wigan Warriors Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year, and the Rugby League Writers and Broadcasters Association Player of the Year awards. He was also selected in the Super League Dream Team and shortlisted for the prestigious Man of Steel award.
Since that breakout season, Field has remained central to Wigan’s sustained success. His blistering support play, defensive organisation, and game‑breaking speed have helped drive the Warriors to Super League Grand Final victories in 2023, 2024 and 2025, alongside victories in the 2022 and 2024 Challenge Cups and the 2024 World Club Challenge, cementing his reputation as one of the elite fullbacks in world rugby league.
In recognition of his influence and consistency, Field signed a four‑year contract extension in January 2024, committing to Wigan until the end of the 2027 season, with further options extending through 2028 and 2029. He continued his dominance into 2025, once again claiming Wigan Warriors Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Try of the Season, while also being selected in the 2025 Super League Dream Team.
