Player Bio

Jack Bird is a versatile and highly experienced rugby league player who has joined the Leeds Rhinos ahead of the 2026 Super League season, bringing with him more than a decade of NRL experience, representative honours, and a premiership to his name. Capable of playing across the backline and forward pack, including centre, second row, stand‑off and loose forward, Bird arrives in Leeds as a proven competitor with the ability to influence matches in multiple roles.

Bird began his career in Australia with Cronulla‑Sutherland, where he quickly emerged as one of the brightest young talents in the NRL. He played a key role in the Sharks’ historic 2016 Premiership, delivering one of the standout seasons of his career. His form earned him selection for New South Wales, Country Origin, the Indigenous All Stars, and the Prime Minister’s XIII, highlighting his standing among the game’s top multi‑position players.

He went on to represent Brisbane, St George Illawarra, and Wests Tigers, showcasing his resilience through injury challenges and maintaining his reputation as a tough, creative and instinctive footballer. Across his NRL career, Bird amassed over 170 first‑grade appearances, scoring 36 tries and contributing in a wide range of roles from edge forward to playmaker.

After his exit from the Tigers at the end of 2025, Bird secured a new opportunity in the UK when he signed a two‑year deal with Leeds Rhinos, described as a “career lifeline” and a chance to reignite his form under new coach Brad Arthur. The signing has been praised for Bird’s toughness, football intelligence and leadership qualities, with Leeds identifying him as an experienced reinforcement capable of boosting depth across several key positions.
