Player Bio
Brett Morris is one of the greatest finishers in rugby league history and a proven performer on the biggest stages. Across 276 first‑grade games, he scored 176 tries, ranking him inside the top five on the all‑time NRL try‑scorers list and won two NRL Premierships.
Brett made his NRL debut with St George Illawarra in 2006, becoming the club’s leading wing threat for nine seasons (169 games, 112 tries) before moving to the Canterbury‑Bankstown Bulldogs (2015–2018), and then the Sydney Roosters (2019–2021), where he capped his playing career with another title and World Club Challenge success.
On the representative stage, Brett played 15 State of Origin matches for New South Wales and 18 Tests for Australia, scoring an exceptional 23 tries for the Kangaroos. He also represented NSW Country, NRL All Stars and the Prime Minister’s XIII, reinforcing his reputation as an elite international outside back.
Brett retired from the NRL in 2021 after an ACL injury, immediately transitioning into coaching with the Sydney Roosters. He was appointed a full‑time assistant coach for 2022–2023 and, in 2024, took on his first head‑coaching role with the Roosters’ NSW Cup side while continuing to contribute to the NRL program, experience that keeps him current, visible, and highly credible with today’s players and fans.
Brett is the twin brother of fellow Test and Origin star Josh Morris and the son of Australian and NSW representative Steve “Slippery” Morris.
