James Schiller is a dynamic outside back currently playing for the Newcastle Knights in the NRL. He began his professional rugby league career with the Canberra Raiders, making his NRL debut in Round 1 of the 2022 season against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks. Over three seasons with the Raiders (2022–2024), Schiller appeared in 15 games and scored 9 tries, including a memorable double in a 2023 elimination final against Newcastle.
In 2025, Schiller joined the Newcastle Knights, becoming Knight #354. He made an immediate impact, scoring two tries in Round 2 during a 26–12 victory over the Dolphins. As of April 25, 2025, he has played 6 games for the Knights, crossing the try line 4 times.
Schiller hails from a distinguished rugby league lineage; he is the nephew of former Raiders star Brett Mullins, cousin of Knights forward Jack Hetherington, and grandson of Eastern Suburbs legend Bill Mullins. Standing at 190 cm and weighing 95 kg, Schiller is known for his agility and versatility, comfortably covering both wing and centre positions. He is contracted with Newcastle until the end of the 2027 season.
