Georgia Hannaway is a dynamic five-eighth for the Cronulla Sharks NRLW team, having joined the club on a three-year deal in 2024. A former Australian Rugby Sevens representative, she showcased her versatility and skill during the 2019–20 Sevens World Series. Transitioning back to rugby league, Hannaway delivered standout performances for the Norths Devils in the QRL’s BMD Premiership, which led to her recruitment by the Sharks.
In her debut NRLW season, Hannaway quickly established herself as a key figure in Cronulla’s spine. She stepped into the five-eighth role in Round 2 after an injury to Emma Tonegato and played a pivotal role in guiding the Sharks to their inaugural NRLW Grand Final appearance. Her efforts were recognised with the club’s NRLW Rookie of the Year award.
In April 2025, Hannaway’s impressive form earned her selection in the Queensland Maroons squad for the Women’s State of Origin opener against New South Wales at Suncorp Stadium on May 1. She is among six uncapped players named in the 20-woman squad, highlighting her rapid rise in the sport.
On Thursday, 29th May 2025 Hannaway made her debut for the QLD Maroons State of Origin Team, winning game III of the series.
