Daniel Atkinson is a versatile and dynamic playmaker currently contracted with the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks until the end of the 2025 NRL season. He made his Sharks debut in 2023 as Shark #557, stepping in as 18th man during a match against his former club, the Melbourne Storm.

Since joining the Sharks, Atkinson has become a reliable presence in the team’s spine. In the 2024 season, he made 19 appearances, scoring five tries, kicking 14 goals, and contributing two field goals, amassing a total of 50 points. Notably, in May 2024, he delivered a standout performance against the Storm, scoring four conversions and a decisive field goal to help secure a 25–18 victory at AAMI Park.

Internationally, Atkinson debuted for Italy in the 2021 Rugby League World Cup on October 16, 2022, playing a key role in their 28–4 victory over Scotland. 

In recognition of his consistency, effort, and connection with fans, Atkinson was named the Cronulla Sharks’ 2024 Members Player of the Year.
