Player Bio

Toby Rodwell is one of the Sydney Roosters’ most exciting young playmakers, earning his NRL debut in 2026 after rapidly progressing through the club’s elite development system. A composed and intelligent halfback, Rodwell has long been regarded as a future first-grade talent, combining strong game management with a well-rounded kicking and passing skillset.

Hailing from Wollongong, NSW, Rodwell is a product of the Roosters pathways, where he has consistently impressed across the SG Ball, Jersey Flegg and NSW Cup competitions. His performances in reserve grade showcased his ability to control matches, highlighted by his kicking game, try assists and defensive reliability in the middle of the field.

A standout junior, Rodwell was selected in the Australian Schoolboys and represented the NSW Under-19s, underlining his status as one of the premier young halves in the country. His development was further recognised when he received the Roosters’ prestigious Harry Phipps Rising Star award, an honour previously awarded to a number of established NRL stars.

Rodwell achieved a major career milestone with his NRL debut for the Sydney Roosters in Round 15, 2026, making an immediate impact by scoring a try in his first appearance at the top level.

Coming from a strong rugby league family, Toby is the younger brother of Roosters outside back Tom Rodwell and the son of former first-grade player Brett Rodwell, further highlighting his deep connection to the game.
