Player Bio
Kade Reed is a rising NRL halfback and one of the most exciting young playmakers to emerge from the Illawarra region in recent years. A lifelong St George Illawarra Dragons supporter and local junior, Reed progressed through the Dragons Academy after developing his game with the Western Suburbs Red Devils and Illawarra Steelers.
Ahead of the 2024 season, Reed was rewarded with his first exposure to NRL training as a teenager, quickly making his mark at representative and club level. He went on to captain NSWCHS to a Schools Championships Grand Final appearance and crossed for a try in the Western Suburbs Red Devils’ Illawarra Grand Final victory, underlining his ability to perform in big moments.
In 2025, Reed enjoyed a breakout season in the Jersey Flegg Cup, playing 16 matches and laying on an impressive 27 try assists. His development was capped later that year when he earned his NSW Cup debut in Round 26 against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, continuing his rapid rise through the Dragons system.
In April 2026, Kade achieved a career milestone when he made his NRL debut on Anzac Day for the Dragons, starting at halfback in the club’s traditional blockbuster against the Sydney Roosters. At just 20 years old, he handled the occasion with composure, showing confidence, creativity and strong game awareness on one of the sport’s biggest stages.
