Jack Martin is a hard‑running, no‑nonsense prop forward for the York Knights, known for his relentless work ethic, physical carries and toughness through the middle. He arrived at York midway through the 2024 season from Wynnum Manly Seagulls, having previously developed through the Cronulla Sharks system and featured in both the Queensland Cup and NSW Cup. His early career also included representative honours with Queensland Under‑19s in 2018, highlighting his pedigree as a young middle forward.
After making a strong initial impression late in 2024, Martin’s potential fully flourished in 2025, where he became one of the Knights’ most consistent and important performers. He started 31 matches, scored six tries, and was a central figure in York’s historic campaign, helping the club lift the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup at Wembley and secure the Championship League Leaders’ Shield. His contributions played a major role in York’s promotion push and cemented his status as a fan favourite.
Martin’s no‑frills style, durability and appetite for the tough carries earned widespread recognition, with his performances seeing him named York Knights’ Forward of the Year. Head coaches and supporters alike have praised his old‑school approach, high energy and willingness to do the hard work week after week.
In recognition of his impact and continued improvement, Martin re‑signed with the club through 2026, committing to York as they prepare for life in the Super League.
